How Make USB Drives ReadOnly Using VB.Net

Storage devices like flash drives are very easy to acquire as their price keeps on dropping. However along side with it is the disadvantage of having sensitive information getting leaked out and misused quite easily too.

A workaround for this might be to have files password encrypted so that no one can easily view it but it this is not totally fool proof when the file needs to be accessed by more than one person. Chances are there is a bad apple among an organization who knows the password and has the intention of using it for his own gain at the company’s expense.

Therefore what would really be nice to have is to make the file unmovable from the computer. In short disable any copy to any usb storage devices. How? Here is how you do it in Microsoft Windows.

1. Open notepad

2. Type in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies]
“WriteProtect”=dword:00000001

3. Save as “WriteProtect.reg”

4. Double-click created file

Viola! All removable storage drives should now be write protected.

PHP RUNTIME IMG Generation

I hope this code will help you a lot. In order to generate runtime image. Its is now most widely used in web application to restrict users, to prevent the server overflow.
Here is a code give below and its description can be found on the source given below:

//random_number.php
$img_number = imagecreate(100,50);
$white = imagecolorallocate($img_number,255,255,255);
$black = imagecolorallocate($img_number,0,0,0);
$grey_shade = imagecolorallocate($img_number,204,204,204);

imagefill($img_number,0,0,$grey_shade);
ImageRectangle($img_number,5,5,94,44,$black);
ImageRectangle($img_number,0,0,99,49,$black);

$number = get_random();
Imagestring($img_number,9,30,15,$number,$black);

header("Content-type: image/jpeg");
imagejpeg($img_number);

function get_random()
{
srand(time());
$max = getrandmax();
return rand(1,$max) + rand(1,$max) ;
}

?>

Computer Tricks

Msn Block Check

Who is blocking you on msn messenger. Msn block check tool.
There are several techniques you can deploy to find out if you're being blocked or not. Some require MacGuyver techniques, others are simple as a mouse click:

#1. Triople, the MSN Block Checker

Triople is a script by Daniel and UnderDOC that checks if a specific MSN Messenger user is online or offline. It does not return all the users blocking the entered account. One of its strengths (in comparison to any other block checker) is that Triople can bypass MSN Messenger's Privacy setting to block 'all other users'.

>> Use Triople MSN Block Checker.

#2. The Alien Passport Technique

No shocker, this do-it-yourself one, as most of you will already have thought about this before, but here we go:

1) Create a new Hotmail Passport with a user name that has no relation to you whatsoever (tip: use a foreign name from the other gender).
2) Download a polygamy patch for your version of MSN Messenger.
3) Start a second MSN Messenger client after applying the patch and log-in using your fresh and clean MSN Passport.
4) Choose "Send an instant message" from the Actions (or Extra) menu and instead of selecting somebody from your Contact List (which should be blank with your new account), fill in the email address of the person you suspect of blocking you.
5) Send him a message like: "Hi, are you the person who mailed me earlier about my site?" or something completely else (whatever might get him/her to react).
6) If this person replies while being offline on your other account... somebody doesn't really like you ;)

NOTE: This technique fails when the suspected blocker has chosen the default privacy setting to "Block All Others" (= users not added to the contact list).

#3 The IP-Scan Method

Contributed by inspiron2002

1) Find the IP of the suspected blocker
2) Scan the IP for the MSN PORT (1963)
3) If there's none, the person is disconnected from the Internet.

Conclusion: Using Triople, the easiest and most reliable MSN Block Checker!

Life Before Computers

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano!

Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account
And if you had a 3 ½ inch floppy
You hoped nobody found out!

Compress was something you did to garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for awhile!

Log on was adding wood to a fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode!

Cut - you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu!
